Federal Premium designed the Vital-Shok Slug TruBall system to make the smoothbore 12 gauge shotgun slug more effective for the standard slug slinger.Federal's Vital-Shok 12 gauge 2.75" shell fires a 1 ounce rifled slug at 1300 fps, making it a good choice for animals with tough hide and bone such as hogs, deer and bear. The low-recoil rounds are favorable even for youth hunters. It's also a great choice for home defense. TruBall Deep Penetrator cartridges contain a plastic ball between the wad and slug to center the slug in the barrel, as well as a harder (higher antimony) lead than the standard TruBall.
